First Strike v1.2 Map Preview

[MyIS]Spawndemon | Comments: 3

The First Strike mod team is back today with a new map preview for their upcoming v1.2. Take a look:
Hey guys, we’re quite sorry about the delay on this update, but the stuff we wanted to show off wasn’t quite ready to show off. We won’t let that happen again. Anyhow, I have a few things for you today. First off is some great music created by steb74. These pieces will be featured on our previously announced map, Battle of Yavin. If you missed the initial announcement for Battle of Yavin, you can check out the old news post here.

So, without further ado, this first piece is what you will be presented with as your map loads: mp3

This second piece is an appropriately dark fanfare that you will hear if the Empire successfully destroys Yavin IV: mp3

And finally, a beautiful fanfare that you will hear should the Rebel’s accomplish the impossible and blow up the Empire’s technological menace: mp3

Secondly, I have a new map to reveal to you. This map is one of two that will take place on the planet Rhen Var in the upcoming release and is known as “Rhen Var Research Facility”. It’s quite a different experience when compared to your standard battlefield map, but an incredibly fun one as well. The level takes place in a heavy blizzard with a very low level of visibility, creating a lot of large firefights around the various control points causing you to constantly be at the ready as you never know when you might bump into a squad of Snowtroopers.

For more information on this new map being shown be sure to visit their website.
Operation Peacekeeper Mod Update #39

[MyIS]Spawndemon | Comments: 4

The Operation Peacekeeper mod team is back today with their latest media update. Here's what they had to say:
The LMG72 was announced a long time ago with some renderpictures. After we passed some problems with inlcuding this toy we managed to give it the last finish.

We hope that we can start a big test with some clans in the next week. At the moment we´re testing the first internal "releasecandidate" to detect the last major bugs.

The 0.25 will be ready for delivery to you in the next few weeks. Although the summer is inviting us to go swimming or to spend a relaxed barbecue evening with some friends we always get back to our PCs and complete the 0.25.

Nervertheless developing still continues and over Pentecost the major problems should be solved. In the following we are looking forward to your feature requests and wishes. And be assured: the 0.25 will contain some surprises for you.

Bad Company Interview: Jamie Keen

[MyIS]Spawndemon | Comments: 0

The guys over at Bit-Tech have posted up a new interview today with Bad Company developer Jamie Keen. Take a look:
BT: Now, the thing that puzzles me about Bad Company is that this is a series that is known primarily for the multiplayer. Why are you trying to put a singleplayer aspect in at all?

JK: It’s kind of the next step for us I think. A core part of doing a console game is giving a good, solid singleplayer performance. It’s been a real challenge for us making this game and we’ve always been interested in pushing the envelope in all areas, so while multiplayer has been important in the past we also wanted to have a go at this.

BT: So you’re just up for the challenge then?

JK: Basically yeah – why not? Bring it on.

BT: And I imagine one of the biggest challenges has got to be designing maps with destructible environments. Normal maps can be made of just connected rooms, but with destructible environments you have to bear in mind that the player can just blow holes in the walls and cut their own paths.

JK: Absolutely definitely. Especially when you think of the scale of maps we’re using here in Bad Company because these are really wide areas and are much bigger than the types of levels you’ll see in a lot of other games. Adding destruction to it is, like you said, very difficult. It adds a whole new area to design.

21st Century Warfare Continues the Fight

[21CW]JamesBond007 | Comments: 0

It was just before dawn, all was quiet on the shores of Erhai Lake, but not all was well. The orange rising sun should have been a warning sign to the locals as they began hearing the rumblings of war as the land slowly became basked in full light. The Special Forces Team from the Western Coalition had already been airborne in their Sikorsky Nighthawk, a blackened, long-range version of the Blackhawk, approaching their LZ, an island in the middle of the lake with a strategic AA emplacement to control the region.

But the Red Star army was well prepared for this day, and fighting exploded on the Island, downing the WC Special Forces helo with its crew, and quickly the fighting moved along the entire shoreline of Erhai Lake.

After 12 hours of fighting, both the WC and the RS had tied! So we had to fight a final round for all the marbles of the battle, to see who would be victorious. Another 30 minute round of All out battle raged, from the A10 bombing the T-90's and T-72's to the Gaskin's shooting the F-16 out of the sky, to the 10 vs. 10 (sometimes more) infantry battles raging below - it was a sight to behold on the BF2 battlefield. In the end, the Western Coalition had the final say, and to the victor goes the spoils.

The WC has already chosen the next place of action, a lonely place called Desert Storm. Some of you may have already heard about it...

This Saturday, beginning at 12 noon EDT, the fight continues at 21st Century Warfare, fighting in BF2 once again. So don't hesitate, enlist now with your favorite army and join the fight!

BattleGroup-Frontlines Mod Update #63

[MyIS]Spawndemon | Comments: 4

There is a new update posted today over on the BattleGroup-Frontlines mod website showing off their latest media. Check it out:
Hello and welcome to a new Battlegroup-Frontlines update. Today we want to show you the first important building for the Battle of Stalingrad. It is the warehouse Univermag which was built next to the famous Red Square and was at one point used as the headquarters of the German 6th Army led by Friedrich Paulus. While the roof became completely destroyed the rest of the construction could resist every attack. After the Battle of Stalingrad it was restored; it can now be visited at its original location and it is still used as a warehouse. The basement in which Paulus seeked security serves as a little war museum now.

We also want to show you some variations of two of the most famous tanks of World War II, namely the T34 and the Panzer IV. The T34 is shown as Models 40, 41 and 43 and the Panzer IV is shown as version F1. The T34 model 40 is a completely redone tank and will replace our old T34. The tanks are showcased on the map "Crossing the Dnjepr 1943" which we turned into a day map due to community requests.
